The Three Rivers Music and Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce
that Columbia artist Carl Crawford has been selected to create
the art work for the 2006 3 Rivers Music Festival.
Crawford uses
collage and mixed media to depict the rich heritage and daily
life of his Columbia neighborhood. From scenes depicting his
grandmother
cutting collard
greens to
children playing in nearby Martin Luther King Park, his attention
to detail makes each of his works a collector's item.
Collage began to be used as an artform around
1920, with many artists?including Picasso
and some of
his contemporaries?using the medium.
Crawford uses different sizes and
shapes
of torn magazine paper applied to a hard surface to
create a picture image. The individual pieces of paper replace
traditional brush strokes. To see more of his work, visit his
website at www.cmcfinearts.com.
